How To Fix The iTunes 9812 Error On Windows

The iTunes 9812 error is a problem that’s caused by your PC not being able to connect to the iTunes store. To put this into perspective, the “iTunes Store” is basically your iTunes software displaying the various albums & products available on the Apple web server; meaning that it requires an Internet connection which isn’t blocked to work. The issue for many people is that the iTunes program will either be blocked by their firewall, or they will have a number of errors preventing it from connecting to the Apple server properly.

This error will appear in this format:

  • “iTunes could not connect to the iTunes Store. An unknown error occurred (-9812). Make sure your network connection is active and try again.”

In order to fix the iTunes 9812 error, you need to first ensure that you can fix the various errors that your Internet connection may have, as well as then making sure the settings of your PC are also working properly. We’ve found the best way to do this is to first make sure that you can re-install iTunes, and then resolve any of the further errors that your PC may have.

How To Fix The iTunes 9812 Error

1) Re-Install iTunes

  • Click onto Start > Control Panel > Add / Remove Programs
  • Click onto “Apple iTunes”
  • Next to this listing, click “Remove”
  • Follow the uninstaller process
  • Restart your PC
  • Re-Install iTunes

2) Make Sure Your Internet Connection Is Working

  • Click onto your favorite web browser
  • Browse to “SpeedTest.net”
  • Let it check the speed of your Internet
  • If it’s slower than 250 kb/s, you should call your Internet provider

3) Clean Out The Registry

  • Download A Program called “Frontline Registry Cleaner”
  • Install the software
  • Let it run on your PC
  • If it finds over 400 errors, you should let it clean them out (costs $29.99 to register)

These 3 steps will make sure that your PC has none of the common problems that will prevent iTunes from running. We’ve found that although iTunes is continually using a large number of important settings, it can be fixed in most instances by using the above processes, as these will replace all of the iTunes files, re-install the damaged settings on your system, and then clean out any damaged parts of Windows.

Using a registry cleaner is highly recommended for fixing iTunes. This is because these tools are able to clean out the various problems that iTunes will have inside, boosting the speed and reliability of your computer as a result. Our preferred tool is “Frontline Registry Cleaner.”
